Mother's Day

A poem I wrote for my mom a few years ago.
Happy Mother's Day Mom!

For Mom

Telling secrets of a universe unknown,
A wise woman whispers in my ear
I listen and learn from her guidance
Taking her hand, I feel no fear.
Her patience is tested with every step-
My steps so small and slow-
But holding me near throughout each day
I know she'll never let go.
I see this world open it's doors to me,
Welcoming me in it's grace.
With my head held high I continue on,
The sun shining down on my face.
Why a soul like mine should be treated
As such royalty, I cannot say,
But accepting am I of life's generosity
Bringing friends and angels my way.
Loving to the core and only there for me
I bathe in it's warmth and light.
I learn of life, of love, and know
She prepared me for this flight.

Now like a feather floating soft in the wind
Over mountains and valleys I fly,
Carrying stories of adventures, and treasures I've found
To the one who once dried the tears from my eyes.
Whispering back, to this woman so sweet
Of the life she showed me in kind
A world reflected through eyes of blue
And now perceived through the iris of mine.
Eagerly she listens like the child long ago
Who looked up and looked into her soul
And felt the love within, and without
Encompassing all that I know
"I love you Mom", she hears me say...
"Thank you for all that you've done.
For giving me wisdom and unconditional love.
For friendship and accepting all I've become.
Inspired by you, I go on from here
Making tracks and forging my way...
Through the universe you gave me so long ago,
With the hope you'll be proud everyday."
